Reverse Osmosis Recycling
LT Technologies industrial division has developed reverse
osmosis recycling systems for some of the leaders in the
plating and manufacturing markets for over 25 years. In an
effort to continuous develop state of the art, innovative
recycling and recovery process; we consistently institute
the latest equipment and controls.
Osmosis is a process where water diffuses from an area of
higher to lower concentration until equilibrium is achieved
between two solutions. Reverse Osmosis (RO) is achieved by
an increase in osmotic pressure to the lower concentrated
feed water solution. The water molecules diffuse from an
area of lower to higher concentration.
A Reverse Osmosis membrane will remove up to 99% of all
microorganisms, pyrogens, total dissolved solids, and organics
from the feed solution at a molecular weight of 200 or greater.
Reverse Osmosis membranes have a pore size of 0.001 microns.
LT Technologies’ Reverse Osmosis systems are skid
mounted, with all of the equipment fastened to a stainless
steel structure. The Reverse Osmosis process, in most cases,
runs at pressures between (100-400 PSI). Due to the initial
capital expenditure, a pilot test should be performed on
the feed solution prior to purchasing an RO unit. This assists
in sizing the pump and membranes to be proposed. There are
many components to a reverse osmosis system, the most important
being the Reverse Osmosis membranes. Moreover, this is an
incentive to perform a pilot on the feed solution. With the
pilot information LT Technologies can run computerized system
projections and select the proper membrane that fits the
feed stream.
Reverse Osmosis membranes are arranged in either stainless
steel or fiberglass housings. In most cases, the piping will
be 304 stainless steel. If there are corrosives present,
316 stainless steel will be utilized. Certain safe guards
are recommended with the purchase of a RO system. High and
low 4-20 mA pressure transmitters protect and extend the
life of the RO elements and the high pressure
feed pump. A total dissolved solids (TDS) meter monitors
the feed and permeate (clean water) streams and ensures the
RO treatment system is performing up to its specifications.
These components are wired to a control panel that is a NEMA
4X enclosure.
LT Technologies has a full line of standard reverse osmosis
units. We can also custom design our filtration units with
the use of our on site pilot testing labs.
